Why the Markilux MX-1 is different

Homogeneous architectural projection integrated into the cassette — the only Markilux awning that visually transforms the façade with the awning retracted. Flush wall connection.

Most complete lighting system in the range: LED-Spots up/down on the projection + LED-Line + LED ambient lighting in 5 colours behind the visible fascia.

Standard io remote-control motor (not optional) + super-shade up to 387 cm — the largest in the entire Markilux cassette range.

Integrated architectural projection · cassette 600 × 235 mm

The deepest cassette in the Markilux cassette range. Creates a homogeneous projection over the façade that functions as a design element regardless of whether the awning is extended or retracted.

Flush wall connection

The awning is mounted at a distance from the cassette in front of the projection, closing flush against the wall. No gaps or interruptions in the façade line.

LED lighting in 5 combinable systems

Adjustable LED-Spots on front profile · continuous LED-Line · LED-Spots above on projection · LED-Spots below on projection · LED ambient lighting in 5 colours behind the fascia. Each system can be activated independently or in combination.

Super-shade up to 387 cm · manual or motorised

The largest super-shade projection in the entire Markilux cassette range. Independent operation from the main awning, manual or motorised.

Standard io motor · Smart Home

Remote-control motor with io technology included as standard — not an additional option. Compatible with Smart Home, sun and wind sensors, and automatic time-based programming.

Customisable visible fascia

Powder-coated aluminium in 7 standard colours plus special RAL, or high-quality transparent or tinted plastic for chromatic effects with the LED ambient lighting.

The awning that becomes architecture

The Markilux MX-1 cassette awning is not just an awning. It is the only model in the Markilux catalogue that integrates, in a single piece, the awning cassette and a homogeneous architectural overhang that blends with the façade line as though it were part of the building’s original structure. The 600 × 235 mm cassette — the deepest in the entire cassette range — creates a visual projection on the façade that architects use as a design element in its own right. Cortinsa, as official Markilux installer in Barcelona and Madrid, manages the complete installation project, from planning with the architectural practice through to certified mounting with a flush wall connection.
The MX-1 lighting system is the most comprehensive in the entire Markilux range: adjustable LED-Spots, continuous LED-Line, LED-Spots above and below on the overhang, and MX-1 LED ambient lighting behind the visible fascia available in five ambient colours. Each system can be freely combined to create personalised light compositions. The optional super-shade reaches 387 cm of projection — the greatest in the entire cassette range. To view the full range of Markilux cassette awnings, visit our category section.
The io remote-controlled motor is standard on the MX-1, not an option. This places it directly in the category of awnings for contemporary architectural terraces where automation and home-automation integration are project requirements. The visible fascia can be powder-coated aluminium or transparent or tinted plastic — an option that allows the LED light to be filtered to create specific chromatic effects. For luxury terrace awnings in Barcelona, the MX-1 is the solution most frequently specified by architectural practices.
For projects requiring complete technical documentation, Cortinsa provides BIM files in Revit (.rfa) and IFC formats in the Cortinsa BIM Library. For projects combining a cassette awning with permanent structural coverage, we also install bioclimatic pergolas that can be integrated with the MX-1 on the same terrace.

Frequently asked questions about the Markilux MX-1

What is the architectural cantilever of the Markilux MX-1?

The MX-1 integrates within its cassette a homogeneous overhang that projects from the façade as a continuous architectural element. Unlike other cassette awnings, it creates a permanent visual projection that transforms the façade line regardless of whether the awning is extended or retracted.

The MX-1 has a housing of 600 × 235 mm and a maximum span of 600 cm with a projection of up to 387 cm. The MX-1 Compact has a smaller housing (376 × 214 mm) for spaces where the projection must be more restrained, with a reach of up to 365 cm. The MX-1 is suited to projects where the architectural impact of the projection is a design objective.

The remote-controlled motor with io technology is standard on the MX-1, included as standard. This sets it apart from the rest of the box cassette range, where the motor is an optional extra. In the motorised version, it can also be fitted with a silentec motor for environments with high acoustic requirements.

Up to five combinable systems: orientable LED-Spots in the front profile, continuous LED-Line, LED-Spots facing upwards on the cantilever, LED-Spots facing downwards on the cantilever, and ambient LED lighting in five colours behind the fascia. Each system can be activated independently or in combination.

387 cm — the greatest projection of super-shade in the entire Markilux cassette range. Available in manual or motorised operation, functioning independently of the main awning.

Yes. The standard io motor is compatible with Smart Home systems (Somfy TaHoma, KNX, Loxone). It can be programmed by schedule and activated automatically via sun and wind sensors.

Cortinsa provides BIM files in Revit (.rfa) and IFC formats, compatible with ArchiCAD, Vectorworks, Navisworks and any BIM software. Available with free professional registration in the Cortinsa BIM Library.
