Why the Markilux MX-3 is different

Cassette just 120 mm high — the flattest in the entire Markilux range. Projecting articulated arms completely concealed by the front profile when the awning is retracted.

Supports only at the ends: bridges wide spans without intermediate fixings. Ideal for façades with obstacles or where fixing points are to be minimised.

Dimmable LED-Line RGB-WW: warm white or any colour in the spectrum. Inclination up to 70° in ceiling mounting — the greatest range in the Markilux filigree segment.

Two-piece filigree cassette 230 × 120 mm

The flattest cassette in the Markilux cassette range. Sophisticated inner wall for optimum fabric protection. One-piece cassette with integrated keyway for lighting equipment.

Arms concealed by the front profile when retracted

The articulated arms project from the cassette but are completely covered by the front profile when the awning is retracted, creating an absolutely clean profile on the façade.

End-only mounting · bridges wide spans

Supports are positioned exclusively at the ends on both sides. Allows installation over openings, windows or façade elements without intermediate drilling.

Dimmable LED-Line RGB-WW

Lighting in any RGB spectrum colour or warm white, dimmable via io remote control or Smart Home. Cassette with integrated slot for lighting equipment.

Inclination 5°–35° (wall) · 5°–70° (ceiling/rafters)

The greatest inclination range in the filigree segment. Particularly suited to mounting on pitched ceilings or rafters where a greater angle is required.

Front profile and mirror in combinable colours

The colour of the front profile and the mirror of the side caps can be freely combined with all standard hardware colours, creating a personalised chromatic trio.

The flattest cassette. The cleanest profile.

The Markilux MX-3 cassette awning is born from a play of formal contrasts: a contrasting appearance from round to square, in the manufacturer’s own words. The cassette is the flattest in the entire range — just 120 mm in height — yet the articulated arms extend beyond the cassette and are completely hidden by the front panel when the awning is retracted, creating the illusion of an absolutely clean profile. When the awning is extended, the robustness of the hot-forged aluminium arms contrasts with the slimness of the cassette. Cortinsa, as an official Markilux installer in Barcelona and Madrid, handles colour configuration, on-site measurement and certified installation.

One of the most technically notable features of the MX-3 is its mounting system: the brackets are always positioned at the ends of both sides, allowing large spans between anchor points without intermediate supports. This makes it particularly suitable for facades with obstacles or where the number of drill points needs to be minimised. The inclination reaches up to 70° when mounted on ceilings or rafters — the widest range in the filigree segment — making it the solution for awnings for terraces with sloped ceilings. To view the full range, visit our Markilux cassette awnings section.

The MX-3’s LED-Line RGB-WW system allows the terrace to be illuminated in any colour of the spectrum or in warm white. The front fascia and the mirror finish of the side caps can be freely combined with all hardware colours. With up to 600 × 300 cm or 500 × 350 cm, the MX-3 covers considerable surfaces from a cassette that virtually disappears. It is the preferred choice for design terraces in Barcelona and Madrid where minimalist architecture demands that every element be as unobtrusive as possible.

For projects where the awning must integrate into a facade with a minimalist language without interrupting the reading of the building, the MX-3 is the model that responds best: flattest cassette, most discreet brackets, fully concealed arms. For architects, Cortinsa provides BIM files in the Cortinsa BIM Library. For projects that also require lateral protection, we install ZIP vertical awnings and bioclimatic pergolas that can be coordinated with the MX-3.

Frequently asked questions about the Markilux MX-3

What does 'contrasting aspect from round to square' mean in the MX-3?

This is the official Markilux description for the model. The cassette has a rounded profile on the visible front, while the forged aluminium articulated arms display a robust, angular construction when the awning is extended. The design consciously plays on the contrast between the sleekness of the retracted cassette and the solidity of the deployed mechanism.

The MX-3 uses projecting articulated arms that are completely hidden by the valance when the awning is retracted. This allows for a cassette of just 120 mm in height —the flattest in the range— without sacrificing the robustness of the arms, which are hot-forged aluminium, the most resistant specification in the catalogue.

Allows the awning to be installed on facades with intermediate obstacles (windows, pipes, decorative elements) without the need for additional drilling. It also minimises the visual impact on the facade and reduces the number of structural anchor points.

An integrated lighting system beneath the cassette that emits any colour in the RGB spectrum or warm white. The intensity and colour are adjustable via io remote control or from the smartphone app. The one-piece cassette incorporates a slot specifically designed for this accessory.

When wall-mounted, the maximum inclination is 35°. When ceiling- or rafter-mounted, it reaches 70°, the widest inclination range in the Markilux filigree segment. Particularly suited to terraces with sloped ceilings or steeply angled structures.

Yes. The colour of the front trim and the mirror of the side covers can be freely combined with all standard hardware colours, creating a personalised chromatic triad. The trim and the mirror always come in the same colour — they cannot be chosen independently.
