Why the Markilux 1710 is different

Round support tube as a design element: the 1710 does not conceal the mechanism — it showcases it. Smooth, seamless transition from tube to drop-shaped cassette — no edges, no interruptions.

Round drop-shaped cassette with arms covered by the valance: the roller tube remains protected whether the awning is retracted or extended.

Ø 50 mm galvanised steel support tube (inside and outside) + Fraunhofer bionic tendon as standard. The most coastal-environment-resistant semi-cassette in the Markilux catalogue.

Round support tube as a design object

Ø 50 mm steel tube, galvanised inside and outside. Its visible presence on the façade is an aesthetic choice: the seamless transition to the drop-shaped cassette creates a flowing line that defines the classic character of the model.

Two-piece round drop-shaped cassette

Round drop-shaped cassette 236×217 mm. The articulated arms, overlapping the cassette, are covered by the valance in the retracted position. Roller tube protected at all times.

Integrated concealed cable duct

The lateral brackets incorporate an integrated, concealed cable duct for motorised installations with no visible cabling on the façade.

Fraunhofer bionic tendon as standard

High-tech fibre bionic tendon validated by the Fraunhofer Institute, included as standard. Friction-free, silent, corrosion-resistant and UV-resistant.

Up to 700 × 350 cm · available coupled

Maximum width 700 cm with projection up to 350 cm. Available in coupled configuration for large surfaces whilst maintaining the same visual identity across the full length.

Inclination 5°–25° · wall, ceiling, rafter mounting

Stepless adjustment. Lateral end caps available in powder-coated or bright chrome to coordinate with the hardware.

The awning that turns the mechanism into design

The Markilux 1710 semi-cassette awning is the model that Markilux defines as the classic awning with a support tube as a design object. Whereas cassette models conceal all mechanism behind the profile, the 1710 does the opposite: the round Ø 50 mm galvanised steel support tube is visible, and its transition to the teardrop-shaped fabric cassette is designed so that this visibility becomes an aesthetic argument rather than a flaw. It is the semi-cassette awning for façades with a classic or Mediterranean style, or wherever a rounded formal language suits better than a straight-line profile. Cortinsa, as an official Markilux installer in Barcelona and Madrid, installs the 1710 in both private residences and hotels with traditional architecture.

The fabric cassette has a round teardrop shape, and the articulated arms are covered by the valance when retracted — the winding tube remains protected whether the awning is retracted or extended. With a maximum width of 700 cm and available in coupled configuration, the 1710 can cover large terraces whilst maintaining the same visual identity. The bionic tendon validated by the Fraunhofer Institute is standard on the 1710. The Ø 50 mm galvanised steel support tube, treated inside and out, makes it particularly well suited to awnings for seafront terraces — Sitges, Castelldefels, the Barcelona coastline — where salt air accelerates the deterioration of aluminium profiles.

For residential new-build or refurbishment projects, Cortinsa provides BIM files in the Cortinsa BIM Library. For projects that also require vertical protection, we install vertical awnings and bioclimatic pergolas that can be coordinated with the 1710 in terms of hardware and fabric.

Frequently asked questions about the Markilux 1710

What is the 'load-bearing tube as a design object' of the Markilux 1710?

Markilux describes the 1710 this way because the round steel support tube is visible on the façade, and its circular form is designed so that this visibility becomes an aesthetic asset. The transition from the tube to the drop cassette is smooth and seamless, creating a coherent formal line that defines the classic character of the model.

The 1600 has a dynamic protective hood that lowers automatically to give the appearance of a full cassette. The 1710 is the classic semi-cassette: the support tube is visible and forms part of the design. The 1600 is the choice for those who want a cassette look; the 1710 for those who appreciate the classic formal language of the semi-cassette with visible support tube.

Yes. The 1710’s articulated arms are mounted over the cassette and are covered by the valance both when retracted and when the awning is extended. The roller tube remains protected at all times.

The lateral supports incorporate an integrated and covered cable routing channel for motorised installations. It allows the motor to be wired without any cables remaining visible on the façade, maintaining the clean visual lines of the model.

Up to 700 cm wide and 350 cm projection in a single installation. Also available in coupled configuration to cover longer terraces while maintaining the same visual identity across the entire façade.

Yes. The internally and externally galvanised steel load-bearing tube, the stainless-steel connecting elements with PTFE coating, and the bionic tendon resistant to corrosion and UV rays make the 1710 a model specially prepared for environments with high salinity or humidity.
