Markilux veranda awnings are designed specifically for glazed roofs. Over-glass systems place the fabric on top of the roof to block heat before it enters, while under-glass systems work from the inside with a suspended roller screen.
Each model is designed to integrate seamlessly into winter gardens, terrace roofs, skylights and verandas. Full cassette that protects the fabric when retracted, with guide rails and counter-tension tensioning for an optimal fabric position at any extension point.
All veranda models come with a motor as standard. Compatible with remote-controlled motors, weather sensors, and home automation systems for automatic management of solar protection based on temperature and solar radiation.
Extruded aluminium profiles with facade-grade quality, powder-coated. Round or square cassette options depending on the model. BIM technical documentation available in Revit (.rfa) and IFC formats in our BIM Library.
All systems are custom-made and installed by our own technical team in Barcelona and Madrid. Select the model to view the technical data sheet and professional documentation.
Veranda awnings are solar protection systems designed specifically for glass roofs, conservatories, skylights, and enclosed terraces. Unlike a conventional articulated-arm awning, the veranda awning is installed directly on or beneath the glazed surface and travels along guide rails, covering the entire glass area with a tensioned fabric that blocks solar radiation without darkening the space. At Cortinsa we have been installing Markilux veranda awnings to measure in Barcelona and Madrid for over 40 years.
Veranda awnings over glass position the fabric on top of the glazed roof, intercepting solar radiation before it passes through the glass and heats the interior space. This is the most energy-efficient solution, as it significantly reduces heat gain. The Markilux models available for over-glass installation are the 7800, 8800, 8850, 770, and 870, with dimensions ranging from compact formats up to large surfaces of up to 700 × 450 cm.
Veranda awnings under glass are installed on the interior face of the glazed roof, suspended from guide rails fixed to the structure. The fabric descends from the cassette and is tensioned between the rails, creating a screen that reduces brightness and glare without altering the exterior of the building. They are the standard solution when it is not possible to intervene on the exterior of the roof, or when the aesthetics of the conservatory require an integrated solution from within. The available models are the 679, 779, and 879.
All Markilux motorised veranda awning models operate with a motor as the standard drive mechanism. Motorisation is essential on glazed roofs where the fabric is manually inaccessible once installed. The systems are compatible with remote-controlled motors, temperature and solar radiation sensors, and home automation systems that automate opening and closing according to weather conditions. The combination of a veranda awning with a solar sensor allows interior comfort to be maintained in a fully automatic manner.
Markilux awnings for glazed roofs are the reference solution for conservatories, polycarbonate-roofed pergolas, and glazed terraces in residential and hospitality settings. The range includes models with wind resistance class 3 — the most robust in the catalogue — such as the 7800, 8850, 770, and 870, capable of withstanding wind forces of up to 48 km/h with the awning extended. The 8800 model achieves class 2, suitable for installations in more sheltered environments.
In hospitality projects, veranda awnings make it possible to climate-control and protect glazed terraces and conservatories from the sun with a professional, long-lasting solution. All models feature certified technical data sheets and BIM files in Revit (.rfa) and IFC format, available in our BIM Library for direct specification in projects. As official Markilux distributors in Barcelona and Madrid, we offer the complete range with manufacturer’s warranty and our own after-sales service.
Cortinsa has been installing Markilux veranda awnings in Barcelona and the metropolitan area for over 40 years. We operate throughout the city, including the Eixample, Sarrià-Sant Gervasi, Gràcia, Sant Cugat and the Maresme and Garraf coastlines. In Madrid, we cover the capital and municipalities such as Pozuelo, Las Rozas, Majadahonda, Boadilla del Monte and La Moraleja.
Our technical team carries out the survey visit, installation and after-sales service with our own staff in both cities. No subcontractors. If you need a veranda awning in Barcelona or Madrid for your glazed roof or winter garden, contact us to request your free quote.
A veranda awning is a sun-protection system designed specifically for glazed roofs, winter gardens, skylights, and enclosed terraces. Unlike a conventional awning, it travels along guide rails covering the entire glass surface with a tensioned fabric. It is suitable for any space with a glass roof where temperature and solar radiation control is required.
A over-glass awning places the fabric on top of the glazed roof, blocking solar radiation before it passes through the glass and heats the interior — it is the most energy-efficient solution. An under-glass awning is installed on the interior face of the roof, creating a screen that reduces brightness from inside without affecting the exterior of the building.
Yes. Markilux veranda awnings are designed for all types of glazed roofs, including skylights and rooflights. The most suitable model depends on the roof pitch, the opening dimensions, and whether installation is required above or below the glass. Our technical team assesses the solution during the measuring visit.
