Why the Markilux 8850 is different

The only over-glass awning in the Markilux catalogue designed specifically for verandas with sloped roofs. Its inset guide rails allow adaptation to any sloped-roof geometry, with adjustable rail position of up to 100 cm and a maximum asymmetric distance of 40 cm. Up to 25 m² of shade, wind-resistance class 3.

Adjustable guide rails for sloped roofs

The defining feature of the Markilux 8850 is that the awning fabric passes over the guide rails, which are set inward. This allows the rail position to be adjusted up to 100 cm towards the interior of the roof — with a maximum asymmetric distance of 40 cm — to adapt perfectly to any sloped-roof geometry. The rails can project up to 100 cm beyond the last support, providing greater sun protection.

Only the fabric visible from the exterior

Because the fabric passes over the guide rails, only the awning fabric is visible from outside the building — the rail profiles remain out of sight. The result is a far cleaner visual integration into the building façade, particularly valued in verandas with sloped roofs where the side rails would otherwise be highly exposed.

Up to 25 m² of shade in a single span

With a width of up to 650 cm and a projection of up to 500 cm, the Markilux 8850 covers up to 25 m² in a single span. Maximum dimensions: 500 × 500 cm / 600 × 450 cm / 650 × 400 cm. Available with Ø 95 mm winding shaft for maximum stability in large formats.

Integrated cassette inspection opening

The two-piece round cassette of Ø 187 mm incorporates an overlaid inspection cover, allowing access to the interior without dismantling for technical maintenance. Wall brackets with inclination adjustment from 5° to 45° to match the exact roof angle.

Wind-resistance class 3

The Markilux 8850 is certified to wind-resistance class 3, equivalent to Beaufort 6 — 38–48 km/h. The elevated position of the rails contributes to the stability of the system on exposed sloped roofs.

Silentec motor and optional automatic sensors

Compatible with io remote-controlled motor 868 MHz and RTS 433 MHz. Option of silentec motor for silent operation and automatic sun, wind, and rain sensors. Wall-coupling profile and storm lock available as additional equipment.

Markilux 8850 in operation, on glass for sloped roofs

veranda 8850 awning details

Markilux 8850, the only glass-roof awning designed for pitched roofs

The Markilux 8850 is the glass-roof awning designed specifically for verandas with pitched roofs. Its unique feature is that the fabric passes over the guide rails, which are recessed inward and adjustable by up to 100 cm in the lateral position, allowing precise adaptation to any pitched-roof geometry. It is the solution that makes it possible to install a veranda awning on structures where no other system in the Markilux catalogue can. At Cortinsa we install the Markilux 8850 in Barcelona and Madrid with manufacturer’s warranty and our own technical team.

The challenge of pitched roofs and how the 8850 solves it

Verandas with pitched roofs present a specific challenge for glass-roof awning systems: the lateral guide rails cannot sit at the same level on both sides when the roof has a slope, and the fabric must adapt to that geometry. The Markilux 8850 solves this problem with its rails adjustable by up to 100 cm inward, compensating for height differences between the two sides of the roof. The maximum asymmetric distance of 40 cm between the two rails allows it to cover roofs with pitches of up to 45°.

Only the fabric visible from outside

Because the fabric passes over the rails rather than beneath them, only the fabric surface is visible from outside the building, with no lateral rail profiles on show. This delivers an aesthetically superior result compared with conventional systems on pitched roofs, particularly on verandas attached to residential properties where integration with the façade is a priority.

Frequently asked questions about the Markilux 8850

What is the Markilux 8850?

The Markilux 8850 is a glass-roof awning specifically designed for verandas with sloped ceilings. Its guide rails are recessed inward and are adjustable up to 100 cm in the lateral position, allowing adaptation to any sloped roof geometry.
The Markilux 8800 is a glass-roof awning for flat or minimally pitched roofs, couplable up to 5 bays. The Markilux 8850 is specifically designed for pitched roofs, with rails adjustable up to 100 cm inward — it is not couplable but resolves installations where the 8800 cannot be applied.
The maximum dimensions of the Markilux 8850 are 500 × 500 cm / 600 × 450 cm / 650 × 400 cm. The minimum projection is 80 cm and the maximum projection is 500 cm.

No. The Markilux 8850 does not offer a super-shade option or an attached awning. It is an individual awning system exclusively.

The chest wall brackets allow an inclination adjustment of 5° to 45°. The asymmetric position of the rails makes it possible to compensate for height differences between the two sides of the ceiling of up to 40 cm. Our technical team assesses feasibility during the measuring visit.

Cortinsa installs the Markilux 8850 in Barcelona, Madrid and the surrounding metropolitan area, with a technical survey visit, made-to-measure manufacturing and installation by our own technical team — no subcontractors.
