Jayma Awning Features

Product patented by Cortinsa: proprietary technology for large areas

The Jayma Awning is a sun-protection system developed and patented by Cortinsa. Its design addresses a specific need in the hotel, commercial and catering sectors: covering large exterior surfaces — gardens, terraces, pool areas — with a retractable awning of clean architectural appearance that requires no permanent fixed structure. The system is supported by a tilting goalpost support and a rear fixing that ensure stability without the need for a central post.

Single and double configuration: up to +40 m² of shade

The Jayma is available in single configuration — up to 420 cm projection × 300 cm width — and in double configuration, which couples two units on a shared central structure to achieve up to 850 cm total projection × 300 cm width, exceeding 40 m² of covered surface. The double configuration is the standard solution for restaurant terraces and hotel gardens where large-scale continuous coverage is required with minimal structural presence.

Pivoting system with floor anchoring or counterweight boxes

The structure is firmly anchored to the ground via the tilting goalpost support or, where drilling the paving is not possible, via counterweight boxes. The pivoting system allows the awning to fold away completely when not in use, protecting the fabric and reducing wind load in the resting position. The entire structure is manufactured from galvanised steel tube Ø 6×1.5 mm and Ø 8×1.5 mm, with an integrated goalpost joint.

Standard motorisation and a wide selection of technical fabrics

The Jayma includes motorised operation as standard. The available fabrics range from opaque acrylic to various technical polyscreen references, including high visual-permeability options for environments where ventilation is a priority factor.

Jayma Awning: the large-scale shade system for hospitality, gardens and exceptional terraces

Why the Jayma exists: the need no conventional awning resolves

Most exterior sun-protection systems are designed to cover between 10 and 30 m²: a cassette awning, a textile pergola, a large-format parasol. When the area to be covered exceeds these dimensions — a hotel garden, a restaurant terrace with seating for 80, the pool area of a private villa — conventional systems begin to be chained together, and the result is a complex structure with multiple fixing points and a visual presence that competes with the space rather than integrating into it. The Jayma Awning is Cortinsa’s answer to that specific problem: a patented awning system capable of covering up to over 40 m² in double configuration with a minimal structure, a clean design and a motorised opening and closing mechanism that requires no manual intervention. It is the product that Cortinsa developed, patented and has been installing in private gardens and hospitality terraces in Barcelona and Madrid precisely because nothing equivalent existed on the market.

Single and double configuration: scaling the shade without multiplying the structure

The key to the versatility of the Jayma Awning lies in its configuration system. In single configuration, the awning covers surfaces of up to 500 × 420 cm with a single set of supports. In double configuration, two units are coupled on a shared central structure — with a single joining column between them — to reach 850 cm of total projection whilst maintaining 300 cm of width. This arrangement generates a continuous shade surface of over 40 m² with a minimal structural presence: two rear support points and the shared central support. For large-scale gardens, restaurant terraces or hotel pool areas, this configuration is technically cleaner than installing four or five independent awnings with their respective fixings. The pivoting system allows the awning to be folded away completely when not in use, reducing wind load and protecting the fabric outside hours of use.

Technical fabrics for every type of use: opacity, breathability and UV resistance

The Jayma is available with a selection of technical fabrics adapted to different usage contexts. Opaque acrylic is the option offering the greatest solar protection and is the most suitable for areas where direct radiation needs to be completely blocked. The polyscreen references — Screen 4000P, Screen 6000, Screen 7000 — offer different levels of visual permeability and ventilation, with the Screen 7000 being the most breathable and the 4000P the most opaque within the family. The fabrics in the Soltis range — Soltis 86, Soltis Performance 92 and Soltis Lounge 96 — are high-performance fabrics with specific technical certifications for use in solar architecture: UV protection exceeding 96%, dimensional stability and proven longevity in long-term installations. For hospitality and catering projects where the fabric forms part of the venue’s visual identity, all fabrics are available in a wide range of made-to-measure colours.

In-house manufacturing and installation: the Jayma is installed exclusively by Cortinsa

As a system patented by Cortinsa, the Jayma Awning is not available through any other installer or distributor. The design, structural manufacturing and installation are carried out entirely by Cortinsa’s technical team, ensuring complete coherence between sizing, materials and execution. The process begins with a technical site visit: assessment of dimensions, floor type, wind conditions and solar orientation. From that visit, the technical project is generated with the optimal configuration — single or double —, the choice of fabric and the most suitable fixing system. For luxury residential projects or hospitality and HORECA installations, the Jayma can be combined with other exterior shade systems — parasols, tensioned canopies — for a comprehensive coverage proposal. Frequently asked questions about the Jayma Awning

What exactly is the Toldo Jayma and how does it differ from a conventional awning?

The Jayma Awning is a large-surface awning system with Cortinsa’s own patent. Unlike a conventional arm awning — which is wall-mounted and covers between 10 and 25 m² — the Jayma is supported on a tilting goalpost support anchored to the ground, with no wall fixing required, and can cover up to over 40 m² in a double configuration. It is the solution for large gardens and terraces where a conventional awning falls short.

In single configuration, the Jayma covers surfaces of up to 500 × 420 cm (width × projection). In double configuration —two units coupled on a shared central structure— the total projection reaches 850 cm × 300 cm, exceeding 40 m² of continuous covered surface.

Yes. The system accepts two types of fixing: fixed ground anchoring for maximum stability, or ballast boxes when drilling the floor is not possible or practical. This second option is common in hospitality terraces with high-quality paving or in gardens where the floor finish needs to be preserved.
The Jayma has a wind resistance class 2, equivalent to 28 km/h. The pivoting system allows the awning to be fully retracted when wind exceeds that threshold, protecting both the fabric and the structure. For installations in areas with frequent wind, Cortinsa assesses orientation and exposure during the technical site visit.
The Jayma is designed specifically for large gardens, hospitality terraces and pool areas where surfaces exceeding 20–40 m² need to be covered. It is not suitable for balconies or small terraces. The Cortinsa technical team carries out a prior visit to confirm installation feasibility and recommend the optimum configuration.
Yes. The Jayma is available with seven fabric references: opaque acrylic for maximum solar protection, and six polyscreen and Soltis references — Screen 4000P, Screen 6000, Screen 7000, Soltis 86, Soltis Performance 92 and Soltis Lounge 96 — with different levels of visual permeability, ventilation and UV protection. Cortinsa advises on the most suitable fabric according to the orientation, use and aesthetic requirements of each project.
