Why the Glatz Alu Twist Parasol is Different
Opening and closing via rotating crank
The Glatz Alu Twist opens and closes using a rotating crank integrated into the mast. The mechanism is designed for daily use: comfortable, quick, and effortless. All operating elements are integrated at hip height for ease of use.
32° tilt via rotating handle
The Alu Twist mast incorporates a rotating handle that tilts the canopy 32°, allowing the shade to be adjusted to the sun’s position without moving the base. It is the solution for terraces and gardens where the sun’s angle changes throughout the day.
Very lightweight base: from 40 kg
Unlike larger-format parasols, the Alu Twist requires a minimum base of just 40 kg for the Ø 300 cm, 240×240 cm and 250×200 cm formats. The Ø 330 cm format requires 55 kg. Compatible with concrete, granite and steel bases, with a wheel option for repositioning.

Frame in natural anodised aluminium (sole finish available — no anthracite option). Cover available in three qualities: 100% polyacrylic ~300 g/m² (quality 5, UV > 98%), 100% polyester ~250 g/m² (quality 4, UV > 98%) and 100% polyester ~220 g/m² (quality 2, UV > 98%). Self-tensioning. No valance.

Unlike the contract models in the range, the Alu Twist requires neither heavy bases nor permanent installation: the minimum base is just 40 kg across three of its four formats, making repositioning and installation straightforward without any building work. The natural anodised aluminium frame — the only finish available on this model — ensures the durability characteristic of Swiss Glatz manufacturing, with a reduced overall weight and minimal maintenance.
Crank opening and 32° tilt: everything within easy reach
The Glatz Alu Twist opens and closes via a rotary crank integrated into the mast at hip height, designed for repeated use without effort. The mast also features a rotating handle that tilts the canopy by 32°, allowing the shade position to be adjusted to different sun angles without moving the base or furniture. This combination of easy opening and integrated tilt is what Glatz calls “intelligent handling”: all functions accessible from the same point, at the same height. For gardens requiring greater coverage, bioclimatic pergolas are the most common alternative in luxury residential projects.
The Alu Twist’s protective cover self-tensions thanks to the flexible tips of the ribs, keeping the fabric taut at all times without manual adjustment. The parasol is available without a valance, which underlines its clean, contemporary lines. The protective cover is an optional accessory — unlike other Glatz models such as the Sombrano or the Pendalex, where it is included as standard.
