Features of the Markilux Compact Textile Pergola

The slimmest housing in the range: 125×125 mm

The housing profile of the markilux pergola compact measures just 125 × 125 mm, significantly slimmer than the 160×200 mm square housing of the cubic or the Ø 187 mm round housing of the classic. This slimness is not merely aesthetic: it allows the awning to be installed on terraces, large balconies and façades where the visual impact of the structure is an architectural requirement, without sacrificing full protection of the fabric in the retracted position.

German Design Award 2018

The compact is the only model in the Markilux textile range recognised with the German Design Award 2018, the benchmark industrial design award in Europe. A distinction that endorses not only the aesthetics of the product, but the coherence between form, function and manufacturing quality.

tracfix as standard — continuous guide without gap

Like the rest of the textile range, the compact incorporates tracfix as standard: a continuous lateral fabric guide that eliminates any gap between the fabric and the guide rail along the entire travel, ensuring uniform tensioning and wind resistance class 3 (38–48 km/h) at any extension position.

Lighting in five combinable positions

The compact offers five independent lighting points: LED-Line or LED-Spots in the housing, LED-Line in the guide rails and LED-Line or LED-Spots in the fabric support tube. Each group can be controlled individually, allowing differentiated lighting scenes to be created beneath the awning.

Markilux Compact Textile Pergola: the slimmest pergola awning for urban terraces

German Design Award 2018: when design and function are inseparable

The markilux pergola compact is the only model in the Markilux textile range to have been awarded the German Design Award 2018, the most prestigious industrial design accolade in Europe. This award is not granted for a product’s external appearance, but for the coherence between form, function, and manufacturing quality. In the compact, that coherence is embodied in a square two-piece housing of 125 × 125 mm — the slimmest in the entire Markilux textile range — which integrates full fabric protection within the finest possible profile. The result is a pergola awning that is virtually unnoticeable on the façade when retracted and generates up to 18 m² of waterproof shade when extended. For contemporary residential architecture projects, penthouse terraces, and spaces where the visual impact of the structure is a primary criterion, the compact is the reference solution.

The finest profile: 125×125 mm versus the 160×200 mm of the cubic

The difference in profile between the compact and its range siblings is significant. Whilst the markilux pergola cubic has a housing of 160 × 200 mm and the classic a round one of Ø 187 mm, the compact’s housing measures just 125 × 125 mm. This reduction in cross-section does not compromise structural strength: the compact equally withstands wind resistance class 3, equivalent to force 6 on the Beaufort scale (38–48 km/h), thanks to the tracfix system as standard and the counter-tension tensioning technique. What does change is the profile visible from inside and outside: the compact creates a clean, discreet horizontal line that integrates naturally into beams, cornices, and cantilevered sections of reduced cross-section. Cortinsa, as an official Markilux installer in Barcelona and Madrid, adapts the fixing solution to the type of façade, floor slab, or structure of each project.

Dimensions designed for the urban terrace: up to 455 × 400 cm in a single bay

The compact is designed for coverage of up to 18 m² in a single bay, with maximum dimensions of 455.4 × 400 cm. Unlike the classic and the cubic, the compact does not accommodate coupled awnings: it is a single-bay solution, optimised for the format of the standard urban terrace, the medium-scale private garden, and large residential balconies. Its optional folding columns reduce the minimum drainage pitch to 8° — the lowest angle in the textile range for its maximum projection —, allowing near-horizontal installations with perfectly controlled water drainage. For projects requiring a larger continuous surface area, the cubic or the classic with up to 5 coupled bays are the natural alternative. Architects and technical practices have access to BIM files and technical data sheets in the Cortinsa BIM Library.

Lighting in five positions to transform the terrace into a nocturnal space

The pergola compact is the model in the textile range with the greatest granularity in lighting options: five independent positions — LED in the housing, LED in the guide rails, and LED in the fabric support tube — allow entirely bespoke lighting configurations to be created. The io 868 MHz radio-frequency control system integrates the awning’s lighting into the same home-automation scenes that manage the opening motor, sensors, and optional 2,500 W heaters. For medium-format hospitality and HORECA installations, the compact offers the most refined aesthetic in the range with a technically complete installation.

Frequently asked questions about the Markilux Compact Textile Pergola

What sets the Markilux pergola compact apart from the classic and the cubic?

The compact has the slimmest cassette in the textile range: just 125 × 125 mm, compared with 160 × 200 mm for the cubic and Ø 187 mm for the classic. Its maximum projection is 400 cm and it does not support coupled bays, making it suited to medium-sized terraces. It is the only model in the range to have been awarded the German Design Award 2018. In terms of wind resistance and the tracfix system, all three are equivalent.

The compact covers up to 18 m² in a single bay, with maximum dimensions of 455.4 × 400 cm and a maximum projection of 400 cm. It is not available in a coupled awning configuration: it is a single-bay solution. If a larger continuous surface is required, the classic or cubic models accommodate up to 5 coupled bays.

Yes. With optional folding columns the minimum drainage pitch is 8° (projection ≤ 250 cm) up to 10° (projection ≥ 351 cm). With fixed columns the minimum pitch is 15° without super-shade and 18° with active super-shade. Pearl fabrics are waterproof. Cortinsa verifies the pitch during installation.

No. The compact’s super-shade is exclusively manual, with a magnetic catch handle. Its height is 210 cm (150 cm with vuscreen Alu fabric) and it is available in between-axis sizes from 201 to 450 cm. This is an important difference compared to the classic and the cubic, which accept a super-shade with a sundrive solar motor.

Standard motor included as standard. As an option, the 868 MHz io-homecontrol motor (integration with Somfy home automation) and the 433 MHz RTS motor are available. Unlike the classic, the compact does not feature a silentec motor. Lighting and heating control is also managed via io radiofrequency.

Yes. The compact is compatible with the markilux 876 tracfix and markilux 776 tracfix vertical awnings for lateral closure, and with the markilux 790 side awning at the front. It is also compatible with the markilux syncra system and markilux construct supports, making it possible to create a fully enclosed outdoor space with a completely integrated structure.
