Features of the Markilux Cubic Textile Pergola

Square two-piece housing 160×200 mm: clean lines and timeless design

The defining element of the markilux pergola cubic is its square-profile housing measuring 160 × 200 mm. Compared with the round housing of the classic, the cubic format creates an architecturally neutral silhouette that integrates naturally into buildings with a contemporary, minimalist or industrial language. The housing fully encloses and protects the fabric when retracted.

tracfix as standard — continuous guide without any gap

The tracfix technology ensures continuous lateral guidance of the fabric with no opening between the material and the guide rail at any extension position. The result: total lateral weather-tightness, uniform tensioning and maximum wind resistance throughout the full opening and closing travel.

Up to 30 m² per bay · 5 bays can be coupled

A single bay of the cubic covers up to 30 m² with maximum dimensions of 500 × 600 cm. The structure accommodates up to 5 coupled bays, exceeding 15 metres of continuous length for terraces, corridors and large-scale communal spaces.

Integrated lighting in the housing, guide rails and support bar

The cubic extends the lighting options beyond those of the classic: LED-Line or LED-Spots can be installed in the housing, in the guide rails and in the fabric support bar, creating complete perimeter lighting configurations for a personalised nocturnal atmosphere beneath the awning.

The square-line textile pergola for modern terraces and large-scale projects

Markilux Cubic textile pergola details

Markilux Cubic Textile Pergola: square design and total protection for contemporary terraces

The square cassette that defines a new aesthetic in retractable shade

The Markilux Cubic textile pergola is the aesthetic evolution of the Markilux pergola awning range. Its two-part square cassette of 160 × 200 mm breaks away from the circular profile of the Classic and adopts a clean, rectilinear, contemporary formal language that suits modern architecture, exposed-concrete facades, structural glass and minimalist design spaces. This is not merely a visual difference: the square cassette of the Cubic allows it to be integrated more discreetly into cantilevered sections, beams and rectangular structural elements, reducing the visual impact of the installation. For high-end residential architecture projects and design-led hospitality, the Cubic is the usual choice when the pergola awning must go unnoticed as a technical element and stand out solely through the quality of the shade it creates.

tracfix and counter-tension tensioning: the technology that guarantees 30 m² without vibration

Like the rest of the Markilux textile range, the Cubic incorporates tracfix as standard: the continuous lateral guide for the fabric that eliminates any gap between the cloth and the guide rail throughout the full opening travel. But the system goes beyond guidance: integrated transport tapes and pneumatic springs generate a counter-tension tensioning that keeps the fabric in its optimum position regardless of the extension point. This technology is why the Cubic withstands wind resistance class 3 — force 6, 38–48 km/h — even at 6 metres of projection and without the need for a second front support point. Architects specifying this product can verify the full technical data and download the BIM files in the Cortinsa BIM Library.

Integrated lighting in three positions: cassette, guide rails and support tube

One of the advantages of the Markilux Pergola Cubic over the Classic is its greater lighting flexibility. Whilst the Classic allows LED in the guide rails and in the support tube, the Cubic adds the option of installing LED-Line or LED-Spots directly in the cassette, creating a perimeter lighting effect from the upper part of the structure. The combination of all three positions — cassette, guide rails and support tube — makes it possible to create fully customised lighting beneath the awning: overhead light from the cassette, lateral light from the guide rails and directional light from the support tube. For installations in hospitality and HORECA spaces, this lighting versatility transforms the pergola awning into a scenographic element for the nocturnal environment. Cortinsa installs and configures all Markilux lighting systems in Barcelona and Madrid.

Combinations and perimeter enclosure for fully conditioned spaces

The Cubic is compatible as standard with the vertical awnings Markilux 876 tracfix and 776 tracfix for lateral enclosure, and with the side awning Markilux 790 for the front. This combination turns the terrace into a space with total protection on all four sides, usable for many more months of the year. To complete the thermal conditioning, the optional 2500 W heaters — controllable via io radio frequency — allow a comfortable temperature to be maintained even in winter. Integration with the Markilux syncra system enables the automatic opening of the awning to be coordinated with sun and wind sensors, automating the management of the outdoor space. For hospitality and HORECA projects, Cortinsa offers comprehensive consultancy from design through to installation and maintenance.

Frequently asked questions about the Markilux Cubic Textile Pergola

What is the difference between the Markilux pergola cubic and the classic?

The main difference lies in the cassette profile: the cubic has a two-piece square cassette of 160 × 200 mm, whereas the classic has a round cassette of Ø 187 mm. Aesthetically, the cubic offers more rectilinear, contemporary lines; the classic a more traditional, rounded profile. Regarding lighting, the cubic allows LED to be installed in the cassette as well, an option not available on the classic. The minimum projection of the cubic is 73 cm (compared to 67 cm on the classic). Wind resistance and maximum dimensions are identical on both models.
A single bay of the cubic can cover up to 30 m². The maximum dimensions per bay are 500×600 cm, 550×500 cm or 600×450 cm. The structure accommodates up to 5 coupled bays, allowing continuous spans in excess of 15 metres without structural interruptions.
Yes. With the optional hinged columns, the minimum drainage pitch is reduced to 7°, ensuring water runs off freely even in near-horizontal configurations. With fixed columns the minimum pitch depends on the mounting type: 0°–35° for wall mounting and 5°–20° for ceiling mounting. The pearl and pearl FR canvases are waterproof as standard. Cortinsa verifies the pitch during installation.
Yes. Tiltable columns are an optional feature of the cubic that allows the front supports to be inclined via manual crank or motor. This function has two practical advantages: it reduces the minimum drainage pitch to 7° (compared to 14° with fixed columns) and makes it easier to pass beneath the awning when it is folded, as the columns retract inwards. For awnings with 3 to 5 bays, the tiltable columns option is available on request.
The cubic offers three combinable lighting positions: LED-Line or LED-Spots in the housing, LED-Line in the guide rails (both sides) and LED-Line or LED-Spots in the fabric support tube. This triple position allows complete perimeter lighting configurations to be created. The lighting is controlled with a radiofrequency voltage regulation function via io (868 MHz as standard) or RTS (433 MHz optional).
