Features of the Markilux Stretch Textile Pergola

A different system: 125×125 mm guides, PVC canvas and protective roof as standard

The markilux pergola stretch is not a conventional pergola awning. Instead of the tracfix guide-rail system found on the classic or cubic, the stretch uses 125×125 mm square guides with an integrated drainage channel, and a monochrome waterproof PVC folding canvas, UV-resistant and flame-retardant, tensioned transversally over support profiles. This makes the stretch the only system in the textile range capable of managing rainwater in a fully controlled manner: water is channelled from the canvas into the gutter and then runs down the columns to the ground. The modular protective roof comes as standard, protecting the retracted canvas from rain and dirt.

R+T Innovation Award 2021: the most recognised innovation in the range

The stretch is the only product in the entire Markilux textile range to have been awarded the R+T Innovation Award 2021, the innovation prize of the world’s leading trade fair for solar-protection systems. This recognition endorses the technical solution of the stretch: the combination of waterproof canvas, integrated drainage, standard protective roof and io motor as standard, all within a minimalist-looking system for large surfaces.

Up to 700×700 cm per bay · 5 bays · 25 m total width

A single bay of the stretch can cover up to 700×700 cm, more than doubling the maximum surface area of the classic or cubic. For large-scale projects, up to 5 bays in line can be coupled together, reaching 25 metres total width with a 7-metre projection. Column positions can be planned independently of the awning width, even asymmetrically.

868 MHz io remote-control motor as standard

The stretch is the only model in the textile range with an 868 MHz io remote-control motor as standard — the classic, cubic and compact models feature a standard motor with io as an option. This motor enables immediate integration into io-homecontrol home-automation systems and automatic management via wind sensors from the very first day of installation.

The waterproof-canvas awning system with protective roof for large-scale projects

Markilux Stretch textile pergola details

Markilux Pergola Stretch: the waterproof awning system for surfaces up to 700×700 cm

Why the stretch is a different system from the rest of the textile range

The markilux pergola stretch shares its family with the classic, the cubic and the compact, but its technical architecture is fundamentally different. While the other three use the tracfix system with guide rails and textile fabrics, the stretch employs 125×125 mm square guides with an integrated drainage channel and a waterproof, fire-retardant single-colour PVC folding fabric tensioned transversally over support profiles. This difference is not cosmetic: the stretch can manage rainwater in a fully controlled manner — channelling it from the fabric to the gutter and down through the columns to the ground — and withstands precipitation of up to 56 l/m² per hour in accordance with DIN EN 13561 performance class 2. The modular protective roof fitted as standard, comprising between 3 and 5 profile segments of 21 cm adapted to the outlet of each installation, protects the retracted fabric from rain and dirt without the need for any additional accessories. No other model in the Markilux textile range includes these features as standard.

700×700 cm per bay: the greatest coverage in the range

With a maximum size of 700×700 cm per individual bay and the possibility of coupling up to 5 bays to reach 25 metres of total width, the stretch is the reference solution for large-scale projects: hotel terraces, garden restaurants, covered swimming pools or exterior corridors of corporate buildings. The 125×125 mm columns can be positioned independently of the awning width — even asymmetrically — to adapt to the structural layout of each space. The adjustable inclination between 5° and 25°, with a standard clearance height of 250 cm and a maximum of 322 cm, allows the stretch to be integrated into spaces with height restrictions. For hospitality and HORECA projects, the stretch is the most complete alternative when total waterproofness and covered surface area are the priority criteria.

io motor as standard and up to 6 heaters per bay: the most fully equipped installation

The stretch is the only model in the textile range with an io 868 MHz remote-controlled motor as standard — all other models are fitted with a standard motor with io as an optional extra. This means that any stretch installation is ready to be integrated into io-homecontrol home automation systems and to connect automatic wind sensors from day one. In terms of comfort, the optional crossbeam — which can be positioned flexibly along the guides — allows up to 6 × 2,500 W heaters per bay (in 3 pairs) to be installed, turning the covered space into a habitable area throughout every month of the year. The heaters can be controlled individually via an integrated io receiver. LED-Line illumination in the fabric support profiles, the quantity and position of which is determined at the factory based on the outlet, complements the night-time equipment alongside LED-Line or LED-Spots options in the crossbeam. Cortinsa, as an official Markilux installer in Barcelona and Madrid, carries out the complete technical project including the design of the electrical installation and home automation integration. Architects and designers can download BIM files and technical data sheets from the Cortinsa BIM Library.

Perimeter enclosure with markilux format systems and tracfix vertical awnings

The stretch is designed to integrate with Markilux’s vertical enclosure systems in a particularly comprehensive manner. Between the columns, the markilux 625 tracfix and 776 tracfix vertical awnings can be installed, with a panoramic window option, along with the format slide and format lift systems. On the sides, the markilux format triangle closes the angular spaces that the rectangular format of the main awning does not cover. This combination makes it possible to create a fully enclosed and climate-controlled exterior space beneath the stretch, with controlled access from any of the four sides. For projects requiring a comprehensive solution for shade, waterproofness and climatic comfort over surfaces exceeding 50 m², the stretch with perimeter enclosure is the technically most complete proposal in the Markilux range.

Frequently asked questions about the Markilux Stretch Textile Pergola

What is the difference between the stretch, the classic and the cubic?

The stretch is a technically different system. The classic and cubic use the tracfix system with guide rails and textile canvases; the stretch uses 125×125 mm square guides without tracfix, with a transversally tensioned waterproof flame-retardant PVC folding canopy. In addition, the stretch includes as standard a modular protective roof, an integrated drainage gutter in the columns, and a remote-controlled io motor — elements that are optional or unavailable on the other models. Its maximum dimensions (700×700 cm per bay) are also significantly larger.

Yes. The standard canvas —Soltis Proof 502 and monochrome perla FR— is waterproof PVC, UV-resistant and flame-retardant. The system handles rainfall of up to performance class 2 in accordance with DIN EN 13561 (56 l/m² per hour) in uniform rainfall. Water is channelled from the canvas into the integrated gutter in the posts. In very heavy rain or strong wind gusts, the manufacturer advises that the awning should be retracted.

A single module covers up to 700×700 cm. With up to 5 modules coupled in line, the total width can reach 25 metres while maintaining up to 7 metres of projection per module. The column positions can be planned independently of the awning width, even asymmetrically, making it easy to adapt to irregular structures.

The stretch comes as standard with the io 868 MHz remote-controlled motor, unlike the rest of the textile range, which is fitted with a standard motor and optional io. This means immediate integration with io-homecontrol home automation and compatibility with automatic wind sensors from the outset. The 433 MHz RTS motor is available as an optional alternative. The standard motor is included as standard. As an option, it is possible to specify the silentec motor (maximum acoustic reduction), the 868 MHz io-homecontrol motor (integration with Somfy home automation and intelligent control systems), and the 433 MHz RTS motor. The optional super-shade is operated via a manual crank or with a 433 MHz RTS motor with an autonomous sundrive solar module, requiring no electrical connection to the super-shade module.

The stretch accommodates up to 6 heaters of 2500 W per field, mounted on the optional crossbar in individual or paired configurations (maximum 3×2 units). Each heater includes an integrated io 868 MHz receiver and can be controlled individually. Heater installation must be carried out at the factory — it is not possible to add them retrospectively.

Between the columns, the markilux 625 tracfix and 776 tracfix vertical awnings (with panoramic window option) can be installed, along with the format slide and format lift systems. For the angled sides, the markilux format triangle closes the spaces not covered by the main rectangular format. This combination allows a fully enclosed and climate-controlled outdoor space to be created beneath the stretch.
