Cassette of just 124 mm flat profile — the most compact in the Markilux range. Fabric and arms fully protected when the awning is retracted.
Covers up to 500 × 300 cm (15 m² of shade) from a cassette of minimal dimensions. The best cassette size-to-shaded area ratio on the market.
Optional side caps in polished chrome and valance in 4 shapes — high-end finish level in the most accessible model of the cassette family.
Flat profile of just 124 mm integrates fabric and articulated arms. Mounts on wall, ceiling, or roof without taking up visual space on the façade.
Generous maximum dimensions for such a compact cassette. Ideal for terraces of up to 15 square metres.
Bionic tendon for silent operation and maximum durability, or double chain for greater structural robustness. Choice depends on the conditions of the space.
Mounting versatility that adapts sun protection to any façade orientation. The range up to 70° makes it particularly suitable for balconies with their own overhead structure.
Optional finish that sets the 990 apart from any basic-range awning. A jewellery-like detail on the cassette closure.
Control by crank, motor, remote control, or Smart Home integration with Somfy io technology. Optional automatic sensors.

Some outdoor spaces do not call for large dimensions. An urban balcony of 3 metres, a well-oriented flat terrace, an inner courtyard with few hours of direct sun. For these situations there is the Markilux 990 box awning, the most compact full-cassette model in the range: just 124 mm of flat profile that houses the fabric, articulated arms, and all the mechanism when the awning is retracted. Despite its reduced dimensions, it covers up to 500 × 300 cm and withstands the same wind and usage conditions as larger models. Cortinsa, as an official Markilux installer in Barcelona and Madrid, manages the survey, certified installation, and pitch adjustment to suit the orientation of each space.
The design of the Markilux 990 responds to a very specific need in the Spanish market: covering balconies and small terraces in urban buildings without the retracted awning visually penalising the façade. The 124 mm cassette integrates discreetly into the line of the overhang, and the optional side covers in bright chrome deliver a jewellery-grade finish that sets the 990 apart from any budget awning on the market. The wall-connection profile closes the gap between the awning and the façade, directing rainwater over the top of the awning and protecting the fixing point. To view models with greater projection, visit our Markilux box awnings section, where you will find the full range organised by dimensions and use.
The arm technology of the Markilux 990 offers two options: bionic tendon for silent operation and maximum durability, or double chain for greater structural robustness. The pitch angle is adjustable between 5° and 35° in wall mounting, and up to 70° in ceiling mounting, adapting to any façade orientation. This makes it a valid solution both for balcony awnings in Barcelona facing south or west and for installations in awnings in Madrid with façades that receive limited direct sunlight.
The Markilux 990 is available in 8 standard hardware colours plus special RAL options, and accepts a valance in four shapes: straight, arched, wave, and soft wave. This variety makes it particularly popular in hospitality projects where personalisation is part of the visual identity of the establishment. For spaces requiring greater coverage, Cortinsa also installs bioclimatic pergolas with adjustable louvres. For architects who need to include the system in a project, we provide technical solar-protection specification with solar-factor data, actual dimensions, and mounting options.
The 990 is the most compact full-cassette model: just 124 mm in profile depth, compared with 225 mm for the 900 or the larger profile of the 970. It is designed for balconies and terraces with limited dimensions where the cassette must integrate with maximum discretion, without compromising full protection of the fabric and arms.
Up to 500 cm wide and 300 cm in projection, with a maximum shading area of 15 m². Ideal for terraces and balconies of between 6 and 15 square metres.
When wall-mounted, between 5° and 35°. When ceiling- or rafter-mounted, the range extends to 70°, making it particularly suitable for balconies with their own roof where a greater angle is needed to achieve full shade.
The bionic tendon is Markilux’s own technology: high-tech fibres for silent opening, uniform fabric tension and increased durability. The double chain is a more structurally robust alternative recommended for environments with greater wind exposure or intensive use.
Yes. It can be mounted on a wall, ceiling or roof. The optional wall connection profile closes the gap between the awning and the façade and discreetly diverts rain, suitable even for angled or recessed façades.
In its motorised version with Somfy io technology, it integrates with Smart Home systems for smartphone control, schedule programming and automatic activation via sun and wind sensors.
Yes. Over 200 fabric designs, 8 standard frame colours (plus special RAL colours), side covers in bright chrome, and a valance in four shapes: straight, arched, wavy, and softly wavy.
